Abstract

1449466 Rollers WM R STEWART & SONS (HACKLEMAKERS) Ltd 7 June 1974 [19 March 1973] 13034/73 Heading F2U A roller comprises apertures 8 in its surface communicating with axially extending plenum chambers 2 within the roller, the chambers 2 communicating through ducts 2<SP>1</SP> in an end flange F of the roller with a stationary valve plate 3 having ports 5. The roller may have pins R extending from its surface. The plenum chambers 2 may be formed by metal or plastics strips or the interior of the roller may contain a filling material such as rigid polyurethane foam, with formers defining the chambers 2 in the filling. The ports 5 communicate with a chamber or chambers 6 and some may have a suction applied to them and some a positive pressure, so that the roller can transport a fibre web. The ducts may be supplied with an aerosol for treatment of material.
