Abstract
1449399 Monoazo dyes BAYER AG 20 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 55143/74 Heading C4P Novel monoazo dyes of formula (where R 1 to R 3 are independently C 1-4 alkyl) are prepared by diazotizing 2-amino-3,5-dinitrobenzonitrile and coupling with the appropriate amine. Alternatively the dyes may be prepared from the corresponding 2-bromo or 2-chloro-4,6- dinitro compounds by replacing the halogen with CN; the reaction is preferably carried out using CuCN or a CuCN-forming compound in an organic solvent, preferably aprotic, at 50-150‹ C. The dyes are used for colouring synthetic fibre materials, particularly polyesters and cellulose triacetate, in blue shades.
