Abstract

Feeding openers &c.-Cotton waste from the bale is placed in a hopper e and is passed therefrom by a fan g through pipes f, i, k, l into receiving-chambers c situated on a floor above the willows or waste openers d to be fed. It is transferred from these chambers by hand to holes o in the floor of the room, which lead to shoots p situated above the feed lattices q of the willows &c. d. The pipe f is provided with a trunk h into which heavy matter can fall. The pipes k, l leading to the chambers c are provided with valves n to direct the flow of the material into either chamber. The chambers are provided with doors to facilitate the extraction of the material. A number of rollers r are placed at the inner end of the feed lattice q to ensure an even feed of the material.
