Abstract
1449035 Making commutators MABUCHI MOTOR CO Ltd 16 Oct 1973 [17 Oct 1972] 48110/73 Heading B3A [Also in Division H2] A miniature electric motor commutator has a series of bars 1 which are each punched from sheet metal to have an arcuate contact portion 1a and a terminal portion 1b, the bars being fixed to the periphery of a core 2 by an adhesive so that a space is left between each pair of adjacent bars and the terminal portions 1b project from the core. In the preferred arrangement, a metal sheet (a, Fig. 1, not shown) has a layer of thermoplastic adhesive (a1) such as polyvinyl alcohol on one surface, and is punched in the manner indicated in Fig. 2 (not shown) to produce the individual bars I, these subsequently being fixed on the core 2 by infra-red heating. The terminal portions 1b are located in slots 2a1 in a flange 2a of the core 2. The adhesive may alternatively be applied to the bars after they have been punched, or it may be applied instead on to the core.
