Abstract

1448692 Bed-settee: furniture accessories J G WRIGHT 17 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 43546/73 Headings A4J and A4U A bed-settee comprises a base 10 supporting pivotally inter-connected seat back and rear sections 13, 14, 15 respectively, the seat section being slidable forwardly of the base such that the rear section moves about its pivotal connection 28 with the base to a position in which it forms with the other two sections a bed surface, the seat section being supported in the bed position by a foot or leg 22. Armrests 12 may be detachably connected to the base by lugs (41a, 41b) on panels (39) Fig. 4 (not shown) engaging in apertures 32b in the base. Movement of the bed-settee from the bed to the settee position is facilitated by cords 43 connected between the seat and rear sections and extending through the base. A counterbalancing spring 48 may be provided. The seat section may be provided with a detachable panel such that the base may be used for storage purposes. The rear section cushion 18 may be provided with a pouch for storage purposes. Two bed-settees may be connected in side-by-side relationship by a coupling element (60) Fig. 8 (not shown) extending through aligned apertures (61) in the sides of the two seat sections.
