1448655 Removing metal ions from water BAYER AG 14 Feb 1975 [15 Feb 1974] 6281/75 Heading C1C [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Metal ions of the transition elements and of the metals Mg, Ca, Al, Pb, Sn and Bi are removed from aqueous effluents by treatment thereof with a polymer or copolymer of average molecular weight 5000-500,000 which comprises polymerized units of the monomers having the formula wherein X=O or NH R=H, COOH, or COOR 3 R 1 =H or CH 3 R 2 =H or CH 3 and R 3 =C 1 -C 18 linear or branched alkyl or cycloalkyl (see Division C3).
