Abstract
1448172 ice making machines REYNOLDS PRODUCTS Inc 10 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973] 01294/74 Heading F4H An ice making apparatus comprises a planar refrigerating surface 34 and an extruding device 42 having an extruding passage with a scraper edge 50 whereby ice crystals may be removed from a film of ice on the surface 34 and passed in the form of slush ice into the passage from which it emerges as a hard mass of ice. As shown, the surface 34 is constituted by a plate secured over refrigerant channels 26 in an evaporator plate 24. The extruding device 42 comprises an inclined channel member 44 secured to a circular support plate 60 mounted on a driven shaft 16. As a rod of ice emerges from the channel member 44, it is pressed by a resilient member against a breaker surface, Fig. 3 (not shown), and the broken-off piece falls on to a cover plate 66. A plurality of radially and angularly staggered extruding devices may be provided on the support plate 60. In a second embodiment, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), the rotatable extruding head is provided with partitions forming parallel passages for the ice rods.
