Abstract
1447655 Selenium alloys; coating by vacuum deposition XEROX CORP 19 Dec 1973 [5 Jan 1973] 58823/73 Headings C7A and C7F [Also in Divisions Cl and G2] A vitreous composition which is particularly suited as the photo-sensitive layer of a xerographic plate consists of:- 90 to 97 atomic % selenium 1 to 5 atomic % bismuth 2 to 5 atomic % iodine The alloys are made by melting the components together under vacuum and may then be vacuum deposited on to suitable substrates, e.g. plates or cylinders formed of brass, aluminium, platinum or stainless steel; alternatively photo-sensitive layers may be formed by co-evaporation of the constituents. Various combinations of layers may be utilized; for example a layer of selenium or selenium arsenide As 2 Se 3 may be interposed between the substrate and the Se-Bi-I layer, Fig. 1b (not shown), an organic layer e.g. polyvinyl carbazole or polyvinyl pyrene may cover the Se-Bi-I layer. Fig. 1c (not shown), or may be positioned between the substrate and Se-Bi-I layer Fig. 1d (not shown).
