Abstract

1447180 Suspended ceilings ALCAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 14 June 1974 [14 June 1973] 26575/74 Heading E1W A suspended ceiling comprises panels 22 secured to rigid elongate runners 16 in turn slidably connected to a fixing means 29 pivoted to the lower end of a hanger comprising a pair of rigid members 32, 33 relatively adjustable to vary the length of the hanger, the hanger is pivotally connected at its upper end to a fixing means 36 secured to a supporting ceiling. The ceiling panels have an elongate extent perpendicular to the 'runners are moisture impervious and are sealingly interlocked with adjacent panels. Preferably they are of enameled aluminium and are joined so as to prevent the passage of moisture by closely fitting edge formations 41, 43 which may include a sealing tape. Walls may be clad 'by fixing the elements 21 directly to the wall surface and mounting the runners 16 vertically.
