Abstract

1444398 Egg incubating trays G LEVIN 27 July 1973 [16 May 1973] 35959/73 Heading AIM An egg incubating tray has a diagonal pattern of egg cells to permit close spacing of the eggs yet afford adequate circulation of gases around the eggs. The tray, which may be of plastics, 'has struts 18 interconnected by ribs 20 to determine the location of the egg cells, the ribs in one row being offset from those in the next row to offset the egg cells. A typical egg cell has a hexagonal array of vertical egg supports 4, 5 and four horizontal supports 32, 34 fast with the struts and ribs. The supports are flexible to cushion and cradle the eggs. The trays have hollow frusto-conical supports 52 enabling them to be stacked with the base of an upper tray clearing the eggs in the tray beneath, and two sides 29, 31 of the tray are indented allowing another tray to be placed alongside without loss of space. Three trays may be assembled side-by-side and be supported in a carrier carried by a rack.
