Abstract
1444233 Disperse azo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Feb 1974 [ 19 March 1973] 13112/73 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs, free from SO 3 H groups, of formula (where A is alkylene of at least 2 carbon atoms; R is optionally substituted aryl or cycloalkyl, or substituted alkyl ; Y is H, alkyl or alkoxy ; X is H, alkyl, alkoxy, chlorine or bromine; n is 2 or 3; D is optionally substituted phenyl) are prepared by diazotization and coupling or by esterifying a compound of formula above where the group -A-OOC(CH 2 ) n COOH is replaced by -A-OH with succinic or glutaric acid or their anhydrides. Preferred dyestuffs are those in which D is 4-nitrophenyl optionally 2- or 2,6-substituted. The dyes are used to colour polyester materials in yellow to navy shades.
