Abstract

1444041 Automatic control of temperature FUJI XEROX CO Ltd 8 Feb 1974 [21 June 1973] 05985/74 Heading G3R In a retroactive system controlling the temperature of a heater 1 by means of a temperature detector such as a thermocouple 5 feeding a signal via wires 6, 7 to a regulator 4 which controls the heater current, e.g. by controlling the triggering of triac 2, the detector 5 is electrically connected to the heater and draws current from power supply 3, the system being such that if the detector becomes detached from the heater, this current drops to zero and cuts off the main heater current to prevent overheating. As described the system controls a thermal fixer in an electro-photographic duplicator. The output of the regulator 4 is fed to a pulse transformer 9 via relay contacts 8b. These contacts are normally held closed by thyristor 10 being turned ON by a current tapped from the wires 6, 7 and passing through resistors R 1 -R 3 . If the thermocouple 5 becomes detached, the triac 2 is turned OFF by opening of the contacts 8b. Instead of direct connections to the wires 6, 7, capacitive or transformer coupling may be used Figs. 2, 3 (not shown).
