Abstract

Process for the preparation of organotin mercaptides, for example of the formula (R)3SnSR1, in which R and R1 denote a hydrocarbon radical and an ester or unsaturated radical, respectively, as given in Patent Claim 1, by reacting corresponding organotin sulphides with corresponding halogen compounds R1 X in the presence of aprotic solvents as catalysts or, preferably, in the presence of water and, preferably, using moist, freshly prepared organotin sulphides. The resulting organotin mercaptides are used as stabilisers for PVC resins and as intermediates for the preparation of such stabilisers.
