Abstract

1443258 Rendering fibrous material uniform in thickness SIEMENS AG 18 June 1974 [19 June 1973] 27040/74 Heading DIN In. a fibre drawing apparatus the thickness of the fibrous material is measured at 3 and a signal proportional to the thickness is stored in an electrical storage means 15, this signal being released after the time required for the measured portion to enter the drafting zone and being used to determine the speed of one of the drafting elements to hence compensate for irregularities in the material thickness. The speed of the other drafting element being determined by comparison of an actual speed signal with a variable desired speed signal. The time after which the signal is released is determined according to the speed of travel of the fibrous material. The electrical storage means may be a capacitor type store or a shift register. As shown the motor 7 is controlled by a difference signal generated at 11 between a desired speed signal Vgr and a tachogenerator actual speed signal. The actual speed signal is also tapped to influence, by means of a signal Vs, the speed of motor 9. This speed is also controlled by an actual speed signal Vi and is modified by a signal Vk from the electrical storage means 15. The time lapse is determined by a signal tapped from the desired speed signal Vgr.
