Abstract

1442997 Pressure die casting machines LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 14 Jan 1974 [20 Jan 1973] 3040/73 Heading B3F [Also in Division F2] A gooseneck for a pressure die casting machine has two outlet conduits 12 and 13 for the molten metal. In use, the body 10 is partially immersed in a bath of molten metal and the end of one of the outlet conduits urged into a sealing relationship with a conduit leading to a die cavity by means of a member applying pressure to a block 16. The other of the said conduits is closed by a plug 17 or 18 and the metal forced into the die by a plunger moving within the chamber 11. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the outlet conduits extend in opposite directions, the conduit which is not in use being closed by the member applying pressure to the gooseneck in order to urge the other conduit into sealing relationship with the die cavity.
