Abstract
1442239 Rolling mills MOELLER & NEUMANN GmbH 10 Oct 1974 [25 Oct 1973] 43916/74 Heading B3M A rolling mill stand has frames of composite construction, each frame having upper and lower parts 4 and 1 connected by tie rods 3, each tie rod having a releasable bayonet connection with one of the frame parts. To release the tie rod, the tension is first relieved and the rod then rotated until its toothed head 3b is out of register with the teeth 2b on a sleeve 2. The upper frame post can then be raised to allow a roll change. The stand may have middle portions 5 which are removable when the tie rods have been released. In this case a second portion 2a is contacted by the head 3b when the stand is re-assembled. The bayonet connection may alternatively be in the upper frame part 4, a manually rotatable sleeve (Fig. 3, not shown) being rotated to permit separation of the frame parts.
