Abstract

1442261 Unwinding apparatus COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 8 Jan 1974 [8 Jan 1973] 00850/74 Heading D1J A device for supporting and braking a plurality of supply bobbins 12 has, for each bobbin, two parallel shafts 7, 10, one 7 of which is fixed and the other 10 of which is movable transversely of its length, a respective pair of grooved rollers 11 on each of the shafts, each pair of rollers 11 being adapted and arranged to engage a pair of cheeks 21 of the bobbin, a member 6 which is engageable by the cheeks 21 of the bobbin 12 to effect braking of the bobbin and means 14 resiliently acting on the shaft 10 so as to urge the cheeks 21 of the bobbin into braking engagement with the member 6 in the absence of any pull upon the wire 17 of the bobbin, and means 20 for guiding and separating the wires being drawn off. When a pull is exerted on a wire 17, the bobbin from which the wire is being drawn forces the shaft 10 to the left in Fig. 2 and the cheeks 21 thus move out of braking engagement with the member 6. The shafts 10 in Fig. 1 are all moveable independently of each other.
