Abstract
1442044 Copolyesters CIBA-GEIGY AG 20 March 1974 [27 March 1973] 12438/74 Heading C3R [Also in Division C2] A linear, thermoplastic copolyester containing amide groups is derived from terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid or polyester-forming derivatives thereof an alkanediol containing 2 to 10 C atoms and 5 to 90 mol per cent, based on the dicarboxylic acid component of a compound of the formula wherein the two carbonyl groups on each aromatic ring are in the para- or meta-position to one another, R is hydroxy, methoxy or chlorine and X is an aromatic, cycloaliphatic or cycloaliphatic-aliphatic radical, the copolyester having a relative viscosity greater than 1À15. The copolyesters may contain glass fibres. The examples describe copolyesters derived from the following compounds: dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,10-decanediol
