Abstract

1441599 Compasses; dividers DIETZGEN EUROPE GmbH 29 Nov 1973 [16 June 1973] 55507/73 Heading B6P Compasses or dividers having a spindle 3 engaging nut segments 10, 11 are capable of fine adjustment by means of the disc 4 or coarse adjustment by disengagement of the segments 10, 11 from their associated legs 1, 2. As shown each segment is mounted on a lever 13, 14 having a central pivot pin 18 and a compression spring 15, 16 urging the segment 10, 11 into contact with the spindle 3. Pressure applied to the lever over the spring disengages the segment. Meshing teeth 8, 9 ensure the disc stays midway between the legs 1, 2 during coarse adjustment. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, 4 (not shown), the levers 13, 14 are replaced by sprung buttons coaxial with the segments, the springs urging the segment into engagement with the spindle.
