Abstract

1441414 Valve bag WAVIN BV 18 July 1973 [24 July 1972] 34298/73 Heading B8K A plastics bag 1 has a filling valve which includes a first opening and a second, wider, opening, one of which openings, comprises an aperture, e.g. 7, in a wall of the bag, the valve being formed by a portion of said bag wall and a foil member 8 interconnected by first and second seal joints 10, 13, respectively which diverge from the first opening towards the second opening, and a further seat joint 9 extending between the joints 10, 13 adjacent the aperture 7, the other opening being defined between said wall and an edge 11 of the foil member opposite the joint 9. As shown the bag is formed from a gusseted tube 6 with end seals 2, 3, the joint 13 being coincident with the seal 2. The aperture 7 is obliquely disposed relative to the longer edges of the bag. The foil member 8 is inside the bag and, may be thinner than the tube 6. In a second embodiment the member 8 is on the outside of the bag and its free edge lies along the edge of the bag. The aperture 7 in this case is the wider opening and lies parallel to the longitudinal edges of the bag.
