Abstract

1441301 Feeding strip; continuous casting TECHNICA-GUSS GmbH 19 July 1973 [25 July 1972] 34439/73 Headings B3E and B3F A loose coiler 1 for loosely coiling strip material 10 issuing from a source of the strip comprises a movable part mounted on wheels 11 for movement relative to the source and position-responsive control means, for varying the coiling speed in accordance with the speed at which the strip material issues from the source, operatively dependent on the position of the movable part of the coiler. The coiler comprises pairs of drive rolls 2-5, a bending cylinder 6, guiding rollers 7, 8 and lateral guiding rollers 9 and runs on rails 12. A hydraulic cylinder 13 is connected to the rails 12 and its piston is connected to the loose coiler and controls movement of the coiler during withdrawing of the material from the source (e.g. a continuous casting machine comprising a holding furnace, a mould, a withdrawing unit and a cutting device) and during coiling. Pipes 14, 15 lead to a hydraulic control device, fig. 2 (not shown); a computer may be used to ensure that the coiling speed is relatively constant and is dependent on the waiting time, withdrawing length and withdrawing time of the continuous casting machine. A switch cam 28 is provided on the frame of the coiler 1 for contact with limit switches 29-33 arranged on rails 12. The limit switches switch the driving motors of the driving rollers 2-5 into several speeds, or on or off.
