Abstract

1339980 Laminated safety glass PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 21193/71 Heading B5N A laminated safety glass windshield adapted to be installed in such a manner that it comprises an inward facing ply 12 of relatively thin untempered glass, an interlayer 13 of a polyurethane or a plasticized polyvinyl butyral having a minimum thickness of about 0À030 inch adhered to said inward facing ply and an outward facing ply 11 of relatively thick glass adhered to said interlayer, said outward facing glass ply having a compressive stress zone 15 on its surface facing away from said interlayer of at least 0À002 inch in depth produced by chemical tempering, said relatively thin glass having a thickness of between 0À05 and 0À07 inch, and said relatively thick glass having a thickness of from 0À07 to 0À15 inch.
