Abstract
1339287 Fluidized bed combustion apparatus COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 3 Dec 1971 [5 Jan 1971] 489/71 Heading F4B Combustion apparatus comprises a fluidized bed supported on a hearth within a casing 1, a partition 12 arranged so as to divide the casing into two compartments, nozzles 8 for delivering fluidizing air in one direction in one compartment and in the opposite direction in the other compartment, and additional nozzles 17 atat least one end of each compartment and directed so as to cause material to flow from one compartment to the other. Each nozzle 8 and 17 comprises a tube with one closed end and a radial bore near the closed end, and is releasably secured in bores in the hearth. The nozzles 8 are directed to deliver air in the direction A in one compartment and in the direction B in the second compartment, and the nozzles 17 at the end of each compartment discharge in the directions C, D, so that the material is circulated in the bed around the partition to promote efficient combustion.
