Abstract

1339247 Garage lifts HOFMANN GmbH Gebr [trading as HOFMANN KG MASCHINENFABRIK Gebr] 9 May 1972 [21 June 1971] 21610/72 Heading B8H A vehicle lifting apparatus comprises lifting columns 1, 2 each of which has a lifting carriage 5 on which a long and short arm 6, 8 and 7, 10 respectively are pivotally mounted respectively, each arm having a support member (19) for engaging under a vehicle. The arms are telescopically adjustable such that the two short arms 8, 10 can be rotated in a retracted position from an outer position as is shown for the arm 10 on the right-hand side of Fig. 2, into the space between the columns 1, 2 and then extended to support the vehicle, thus avoiding the front wheels of the vehicle. The lifting carriages 5 are elevated in synchronism along their respective columns 1, 2 by means of a motor M which drives screw-threaded spindles arranged in the said columns.
