Abstract

1338420 Voltage testing indicator RUPERT LEDGER & CO Ltd 24 Dec 1970 61345/70 Heading G1U An indicator, particularly for testing for the presence of live or earthed parts on a car, comprises two bulbs 5, 6, Fig.1A, mounted in a holder 1 which is adapted to be fixed to an earthed metallic part of the car either magnetically or by a clip 2, Fig.1B. The bulbs are connected in series, the common junction being connected to a lead 8, and the other terminals of the bulbs being connected to a lead 10 and to the casing 1. In use the casing is earthed and the lead 10 is connected to a live terminal so that the bulbs both light in series. The lead 8 from the common junction of the bulbs can then be used as a test probe; if it is applied to live metal bulb 5 will be shorted and bulb 6 will light at full power, while if it is applied to earthed metal bulb 6 will be shorted and bulb 5 will light at full power. The bulbs may be coloured red and green.
