Abstract

1338222 Bicycles P BURNS 23 Nov 1970 [23 Sept 1969] 46687/69 Heading B7E A bicycle has drive means consisting of, on each side thereof a pedal lever 11 pivoted at its rear end to one end of a pivot arm 14, the other end of the pivot arm being pivoted to the bicycle frame and connected intermediate its ends to a crank plate 10 rotatably mounted on the spindle 6 of rear wheel 2, the plate 10 being connected with a first gear-wheel 9 such that on downward movement of the pedal lever 11 the plate is rotated and via gear train 9, 5 and 4 the wheel rotated, the gear-wheel 4 being formed integrally with the wheel hub. The levers are guided in slotted members 16. The drive mechanism may be removed from the wheel by releasing a spring clip 12, disconnecting the plate 10 from gearwheel 9 by removing cap screws 18 and releasing this gear-wheel which is formed in two complimentary halves.
