Abstract

1336950 Banding bales TITAN VERPACKUNGSSYSTEME GmbH 7 July 1972 [7 July 1971] 32001/72 Heading B5F [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for putting bands 2 around bales of expansible material comprises a tool head which is pivotable about bearings 43, 44 to permit the band to slip therefrom, and which consists of rollers 4, 16 to feed the band, a cutting member 20 which also clamps the band end while the rollers are rotated in the reverse direction to tension the band, and punches 39 which stamp webs out of the overlapping ends of the band such that on expansion of the bale the ends are securely held together by the webs. Examples of various patterns are given (Fig. 5, not shown). On initial rotation of a cam shaft 27 moves the member 20 into a clamping position. Further rotation of the shaft operates the punches 39, one punch carrying a cutter 41 which co-operates with the member 20 to cut the band. The apparatus may be one of several on a baling chamber, or the apparatus may be movable into different positions on the chamber.
