Abstract

1336720 Electrostatic printing XEROX CORP 9 Nov 1970 [14 Nov 1969] 53132/70 Heading B6C The developed image in an electrostatic printer is transformed to a copy sheet which is pre-coated with a liquid that will aid in transferring the particles of suspension forming the image. The invention is applied to a machine for forming black or white or full colour images through the use of photo-electrophoresis and is illustrated in Fig. 4. A roller 40, suitably connected in the circuit of an electric field, carries cam-operated grippers 433 by which copy sheets from a feed table (not shown) are carried past a drum 1 carrying the developed image for transfer. The sheets are pre-wetted by a roller 45 fed with a suitable liquid, such as the liquid carrier of the imaging suspension which roller also supplies a fixing material to the sheets such material, e.g. paraffin wax being dissolved in the carrier liquid. The imaged copy sheets are passed to a fixing chamber 634, Fig. 12, utilizing radiant over and under heaters 626, 635, and a vacuum sheet holding endless belt 613 in conjunction with a cooling impeller 629. A rotating brush 472 and flicker bar are used to clean the transfer roller 40.
