Abstract

1336130 Shaft couplings SKF (UK) Ltd 8 Dec 1970 [14 Nov 1969] 58239/70 Divided out of 1336129 Heading F2U A sealing cover 14 for a shaft coupling consists of a resilient sleeve with transverse corrugations 44, the troughs of which carry external reinforcing rings 45 made of metal or plastics. The corrugations may be circular with separate circular rings in the troughs, Fig. 3 (not shown), but preferably they and the reinforcement are of continuous helical form. The latter may be embedded in the sleeve during manufacture. As shown the cover is applied to a universal joint 13 of the type decribed in Specification 1,336,129 associated with a sliding splined coupling 11, 12, or it may be associated with a torsionally flexible joint, Fig. 3.
