Abstract

1336038 Two part couplings AMP Inc 13 Dec 1971 [11 Jan 1971] 57815/71 Heading H2E An electrical connector comprises an insulating housing 20, Fig. 3, having an elongate cavity 22 receiving an electrical terminal 52 which is restrained in the cavity by two oppositely faced abutments 34a, 44a, being urged into abutment by resilient action produced by tongue 58, against cavity wall 40, a ramp 38 serving to guide the terminal so that its portion 62 comes into abutment with stop surface 44a. The terminal, which may be connected to a conductor of a tape cable, Fig. 7 (not shown), may be withdrawn from the cavity for inspection or replacement by reversing the above method. A connector assembly, Fig. 1, shows a plurality of terminals in cavities in a multiconnector plug 2 and its associated socket 4, each terminal connected to a tape cable conductor 16, with securing cover 15. The terminals 52 may be removed from the cavities 22 by tool (64), Fig. 8 (not shown), which is comb-like, each tooth (66) being inserted through a corresponding mouth 28, forcing trailing edge 62 away from surface 44a. The terminals may be crimped to individual wires instead of tape cable conductors.
