Abstract

1334800 Vehicle movers M L AVIATION CO Ltd 1 Feb 1972 [23 Nov 1970] 55627/70 Heading B7H An aircraft handling trolley includes a gripping device 1 for gripping the nose wheel of an aircraft, lifting mechanism for lifting the device 1 and the wheel gripped by it clear of the ground and two main driving wheels 24, 25 located at the same end of the trolley as the gripping device which are driven by an electric motor. The gripping device 1 consists of a pair of jaws 7, 8 which are pivoted to levers 3, 4. The levers 3, 4 are moved about vertical pivots to grip the wheel by means of hydraulic jack 13. The levers 3, 4 are then turned about horizontal pivots 22, 23 to raise the wheel by means of jacks 14, 15 which are connected to stirrups 18, 19 forming part of crank arms 5, 6 fixed to the levers 3, 4. The trolley has two main driving wheels 24, 25 driven by an electric motor (not shown) through a differential 35 and is steered by double steerable wheels 26 operated by handle 27.
