Abstract

1334324 Compressed gas container discharge device NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 4 Feb 1972 [23 Sept 1971 (2)] 5305/72 Heading F4P A frangible seal for a compressed gas container 10 comprises a hollow hemispherical member 14 held against a complementary portion of the container neck 10a by means of a centrally apertured screw cap 17 to which is threaded a gas discharge tube 21 leading to an inflatable protector bag for a motor vehicle (not shown); the concave side of insertion 14 being provided with an explosive charge 22 which is detonated in the event of vehicle collision thus rupturing the seal. The charge 22 is connected by electrical leads to a trigger (not shown). In a modification an 0-packing 16 is replaced by metal foil packing and in a further modification the explosive charge is embedded in gelled material, grease or silicon rubber.
