Abstract

1333593 Solar cells BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 7091/70 Heading H1K A solar cell matrix comprises rows of plural cells 2 to 7 having P-type bodies 12 and N- type layers 11 respectively coated with a layer 13 and an edge strip 14 of silver. Top surfaces of one row are interconnected to the bottom surface of the adjacent row by Z-shaped strips of extensile silver wire mesh 8, 9, 10 whose ends are respectively welded to layer 13 and strip 14, and the matrix is attached to a flexible plastic, e.g. polyamide sheet 17 by a flexible e.g. silicone rubber adhesive. The matrix may be bonded to a rigid surface or rolled for storage, and the interconnections may be of e.g. gold or palladium.
