Abstract
1332335 Aluminium-base alloy BRITISH ALUMINIUM CO Ltd 9 Dec 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 58235/70 Heading C7A Components especially suitable for use as armour, are cast from aluminium alloys comprising, by weight: - the balance being aluminium and impurities e.g. up to 0À6% iron. Preferably the alloy contains more magnesium than zinc. After casting, the alloy is heat-treated by solution heating at 350-500‹C. rapid quenching, e.g. with water and ageing at room temperature for 3 to 7 days followed by one or two periods of heating at 90-170‹C. for 2 to 20 hours duration.
