Abstract

1331857 Surgical device ARMOUR PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 4 June 1971 19085/71 Heading A5R An olive for use in a surgical device for stripping varicose, veins comprises a domeshaped nylon member 10 which has with a slot (15) Figure 1 (not shown) extending radially from an axial hole 16 and is attached by a hinge 12 to a cylindrical member 11 with a passageway 18 along its axis. The two members 10 and 11 are fastened by a projection 19 on the dome-shaped member 10 which fits into a complementary depression 21 in an end portion 21 of the cylindrical member. The other end portion 25 of the cylindrical member 11 is incurved to aid the stripping process. In use, a wire with a stop at one end is passed through the passageway 18 and laid in the slot 15; the two members are fastened together and the wire pulled taught so that the stop becomes positioned in the hole 16.
