1331727 Hemi-alkali metal salts of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid AJINOMOTO CO Inc 22 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 59691/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises the hemi-alkali metal salts of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid which are prepared by reacting an alkali metal hydroxide with 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid in a molar ratio of from 0À75 to 0À99 mole of alkali metal hydroxide per mole of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid. The reaction is preferably carried out in an aqueous medium. The examples describe the preparation of sodium and potassium hemi-salts.
