Abstract

1331691 Discharging static electricity MEKTRON NV 26 Aug 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 40141/71 Heading H1X A laminated device, which is illustrated with portions of the laminations removed, for discharging static electricity from a moving film comprises a layer 32 of insulating material having on one side thereof a continuous conductor 34 and on the other a plurality of conductive elements each provided with a projecting pointed tip 46. Layers 38, 40 and 42 provide insulation. In use the device is surrounded by an earthed shield with tips 46 projecting through an opening therein to be adjacent the moving film. A high potential is applied to conductor 34 which by capacitative coupling through layer 32 maintains a corona discharge at the tips. Conductor 34 may have an insulating layer on each side with a plurality of ionizing tips as in a staggered arrangement on each outer surface of the insulating layers.
