Abstract
1331665 Built detergent compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 5 Oct 1971 [5 Oct 1970] 46263/71 Heading C5D A builder composition comprises (A) as primary builder, a water-soluble salt of benzene hexacarboxylic acid, a water-soluble salt of benzene pentacarboxylic acid or a mixture thereof and (B) as supplemental builder, a water-soluble salt of pyrophosphoric acid, a water-soluble salt of tripolyphosphoric acid, or a mixture thereof, the weight ratio of (A) to (B) being 1 : 20 to 20 : 1. The salts may be sodium, potassium, ammonium or substituted ammonium. A water-soluble salt of benzene tricarboxylic acid, benzene tetracarboxylic acid or a mixture thereof, may be present as an additional builder salt (C). Detergent compositions may comprise one or more anionic (including soap), non-ionic and ampholytic surfactants and the builder composition (A), (B) and, if desired, (C) in wt. ratio of surfactant to builder of 1 : 20 to 20 : 1. The surfactant may be a mixture of non-soap anionic surfactant and soap in a weight ratio of 50 : 1 to 1 : 20, and a detergent composition may contain this surfactant mixture and the aforesaid builder mixture in a weight ratio of 10 : 1 to 1 : 20.
