1331367 Labels OLLITUOTE OY 19 April 1971 [15 May 1970] 25909/71 Heading B8F [Also in Division B1] A property of a substance such as a biological sample is evaluated by a method comprising placing the substance in a container, applying an identifying code marking to an integral tag of the container, carrying out automatically one or more tests on the substance from the container by means of one or more testing devices, a reading device reading the code marking on the container as the or each testing device carries out a test, and the reading device recording the result of the or each test and the code marking in correlation. In the embodiment described, the sample container is rectangular in cross-section and has an integral identification tag projecting from its lower end or laterally therefrom. The code marking, for example a binary punched code marking, may be applied to the tag by a tool 2 from an identity disc 1. Alternatively the tool may constitute the identity disc and have pins arranged according to the code and which serve to punch the code directly on the tag.
