Abstract

1330125 Filter press plate JOHNSON-PRCGRESS Ltd 22 Oct 1970 [18 Sept 1969] 46117/69 Heading BID A filter press plate comprises a through aperture 16 in its recessed filtering area, through which extends a two-part spool 21 whose end flanges overlap the flat sides of the plate to define an annular space 25, into which filtrate drains via grooves 30 and apertures 28 in the end flanges, and from which the filtrate passes by channel 32 to outlet channel 33 formed by aligned apertures in the thick periperal parts of the plates. The end flanges of spool 21 clamp the edges of rubber membranes 15 around the aperture, a channel (17) serving to deliver compressed air between the membranes and the body of the plate to squeeze the filter cake between cloths (not shown) overlying the membranes and supported thereon by studs 31. The cloth edges are clamped in gaps 39 between spool 21 and an inner spool comprising two parts, one screwing into the other. Aperture 38 through the inner spool forms a delivery channel whereby fluid to be filtered is delivered to the various chambers defined between cloths covering adjacent pairs of plates.
