Abstract
1329992 Holography FUJITSU Ltd 11 Sept 1970 [13 Sept 1969] 43664/70 Heading G2J [Also in Divisions C4 and G4] A composite holographic data store is recorded on a plate 26 by illuminating in succession a plurality of data patterns 13 through a diffusing, e.g. fly's eye, lens 14 to form successive object beams, and simultaneously illuminating through a lenticular screen as fly's eye lens 23 a signal plate 19 the transmission or refractive index of which is varied in response to an input signal from controller 20 to form successive reference beams, said object and corresponding reference beams interfering on said plate 26, but each successive hologram being located at a different place on plate 26 determined by moving a mask 24 between exposures. Each hologram in the store can then be illuminated by a reconstructing beam equivalent to its reference beam to reconstruct a given image which can be detected by a matrix of photo-cells. If desired the input signal from controller 20 and the output signals from photo-cells can be derived from or fed to a computer. The signal plate is preferably an electro-optic device e.g. lithium niobate or lithium tantalate. The plate 26 may be a photographic or a photo-chomic plate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1216631.
