Abstract
1329601 Cleaning blanket cylinders OXYDRY SPRAYER CORP 14 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 23483/70 Heading B6C A device for cleaning blanket cylinders in situ comprises an endless belt carrying bristles 92, Fig. 6a, and arranged to pass through a scrubbing course where the bristles tangentially contact the transverse dimension of the blanket and through a preparation course where a plurality of flicker bars 100 flex the bristles to remove the dirt, and solvent is sprayed on to the bristles by nozzles 74, 76, 84 and 86. A plurality of transfer surfaces 104 prevent dirt returning to the bristles. The belt may be driven in either direction through the two courses. In a press where there are two blanket cylinders a cleaning device 22 and a drying roller 24 are associated with the first cylinder 28 and a cleaning device 30 and a drying roller 34 are associated with the second cylinder 38. Both cleaning devices are mounted on rails and are hydraulically movable into contact with the respective blanket cylinders.
