Abstract

1328684 Delta-wing aircraft J BOUCHNIK 12 Oct 1970 [14 Oct 1969] 48328/70 Headings B7G and B7W A delta-wing aircraft includes a pair of canard control surfaces 10 pivotable from a deployed position 10a to a retracted position 10b and mounted forwardly of the delta-wing 6. The surfaces 10 are pivotable about vertical axes 12, in their retracted position overlying (or underlying) the delta-wing, and are arranged so that their mean aerodynamic chords are always aligned with the mean aerodynamic chord of the delta-wing. The canard surfaces are preferably located between an air intake 7, Fig. 2 of the aircraft and the delta-wing, and the surface area of the surfaces is preferably 10 to 20% the surface area of the delta-wing. Flaps 16 may be provided on the surfaces.
