Abstract

1328519 Electromagnetic fuel injectors JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 11 Aug 1971 [19 Aug 1970] 56156/72 Divided out of 1328518 Heading F1B [Also in Division H1] An electromagnetic fuel injector includes a winding 54, Fig. 2 which produces a saturated magnetic field in at least part of a magnetic circuit, the magnet field being arranged to produce force moving a fuel flow controlling member. During operation the electrical pulses fed to the injector saturate the core 52 at a voltage less than the pulse peak voltage to reduce the sensitivity of the fuel flow to variations in the pulse peak voltage. Fine adjustments are made by axial movement of a ferromagnetic rod 57. Fuel under pressure enters through a nylon filter 18 and thence passes through ducts 19 to passage 13 which is controlled by a plastics or rubber-like tip 23 of a spring- loaded plunger 22.
