Abstract
1328354 Carbon dioxide filter AGA AB 23 Sept 1970 [2 Oct 1969] 45302/70 Heading AST A disposable carbon dioxide filter unit for a recirculatory gas system comprises a container 1 for carbon dioxide absorbent material 6, an inlet 2 and an outlet 3, and two tubular extensions 4 and 5 fitted with inlet and outlet valves 8 and 13 respectively. Air breathed out by a patient passes along tube 7, through valve 8 and into the extension 4 where it is supplimented by air from a reservoir (not shown) attached to the inlet 9. The pressure is regulated by release valve 4. The air then passes through the filter and out through valve 13 into tube 5 whence it is returned to the patient. Fresh gas may also be supplied to the patient through inlet 15. The unit is manufactured of plastics material and is generally stored with the tube ends sealed by plugs 16.
