Abstract

1328264 Offshore structures; dredgers HOLLANDSCHE AANNEMINGS MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 17 May 1971 [15 May 1970] 23774/70 Headings E1F and E1H A walking structure for performing operations on the sea-bed comprises main and auxiliary parts 1, 2 each having three or more retractable legs LM, LA, the parts being so interconnected that a part with its legs retracted may be turned by rollers 3 about an axis V relative to the other part and/or moved horizontally by rollers 4 with respect to it, so that by repetitive steps the structure may move in any desired direction. The means for controlling such movement may be mounted in a tower 7 extending above the water level, or carried by a floating surface vessel (not shown). Preferably the main part 1 may be raised on its legs LM above the water level. The structure may carry a dredging cutter 9 which can pivot to a position above the water level, or a jib (not shown) for pipe laying or salvage operations.
