Abstract

1328190 Soldering N L JACOBS 7 Sept 1970 21037/73 Divided out of 1327023 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] A soldering flux comprises a phosphate of Bi, Sb, As or Ag, a phosphoric acid and <20% wt. water. The phosphoric acid may be the ortho, pyro, meta or poly form or ammonium or organic phosphates e.g. lauryl, cetyl or phenyl which decompose to form the acid. The flux may also contain phosphates of Ca, Zn, Pb and Li, at least 7% wt. of Bi, Sb, As or Ag as phosphate and the ratio metal as phosphate to phosphonic acid of 1 : 3 to 1 : 10. The flux is used as a liquid, cream or paste with conventional solders containing Sn, Pb, Cd, Zn, Bi, Sb, As, Cu, Ag, Ni, Au for soldering brass, Cu, gun metal, mild or stainless steels, Mn, Ni, Cr and Al.
