Abstract

1328098 Non-woven pile fabrics DURCAM RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 26 Nov 1970 [9 Dec 1969] 60135/69 Heading D1K Apparatus for placing tufts on to a backing material comprises a passageway defined on one side by curved walls 6, 7 such that when a tuft is pneumatically projected down the passageway the air tends to follow the curved wall 6 due to the Koanda effect and the tuft carries on due to its inertia towards the backing 4. The wall 7 is formed on a rockable member 2 which holds the already inserted tufts in place. Two pushers 3, 8 are provided and are operable independantly to push back the inserted tufts as the wall 7 descends to hold them back, the pusher 3 being moved away before the pusher 8. They may be replaced by airjets.
