Abstract

1326714 Injection moulding C G SIEBEL 8 Jan 1971 1067/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division B2] In the injection moulding of a spray head of plastics material, for fitting to an aerosol dispensing container, in which the spray material passes through alternate regions of major (of spheroidal shape) and minor cross-section, this passageway is formed by use of a tool pin 39, the end of which defines a region of major crosssection 25, in a bore 42 of a second tool 43 (which can be slid in a bore 44 of the mould) the end of which defines, in the mould, an annular space 28. This arrangement is such that, with the second tool 43 withdrawn as shown the pin 39 can be withdrawn since the annular space 28 allows the moulding to deform (when still hot from the moulding operation) elastically about it. The tool pin 39 shown is connected to the second tool 43 by a compression spring, but this may be dispensed with (Fig. 19, not shown). Other shapes of passageway, with more spheroidal zones, or differently shaped zones, can be formed by using alternative tool shapes, and a further tool may enter the end of the tool pin at right angles to further modify the passage shape.
