Abstract

1326210 Aerials KOKUSAI DENSHIN DENWA KK 15 Sept 1970 [16 Sept 1969] 43995/70 Heading H4A In an aerial in which a feed radiator illuminates a reflector, wave absorbing material is provided at the centre portion of the reflector, to prevent energy being directed back into the feed radiator. Mismatching is thereby avoided, and the aerial may be used over a wider frequency range. As shown in Fig. 7, a horn or other feed radiator 1 is directed towards a sub-reflector 8, which is in turn associated with a main reflector 2. In the centre of the subreflector 8 is cemented a disc 9 of wave absorbing material, such as rubber-ferrite or ferritecarbon-rubber, the exposed surface of which may be protected by a coating of glass-fibre or other material transparent to radio waves. In another embodiment, a main reflector is directly illuminated by a feed radiator, and has a disc of wave absorbing material at its centre (Fig. 6, not shown).
